around the Boleyn
It is a world almost unrecognisable from my childhood. Very eastern. We started at the Friends coffee bar (run by eastern Europeans) The best, hottest, strongest coffee I have had in ages! Then past this wistful plaque on a unremarkable block of flats near The Boleyn. Lunch was at the sri Lanka restaurant for a fiver- no idea why the sign says £15!
So many cheap restaurants -mostly hindu around East Ham station. The shop window is pretty typical of the area too!
